Living with a cat or a dog means living with the best! But also the worst… We take care of them and offer them the best possible conditions. Between the hair here and there in the house and the unpleasant smells, having an animal is not a relaxing experience. And what confusion when it escapes and does not urinate in the right place. To help you with your cohabitation, here are some recipes to eliminate the smell of urine.

The smell of urine on carpets

To eliminate the smell of urine on carpets, you need :

  • Clean, dry cloth
  • A spray bottle
  • Half a cup of white vinegar
  • Half a cup of alcohol

First, mix the vinegar and alcohol in the spray bottle and spray the liquid onto the carpet where the urine stains are. Then, wipe the surface with a clean cloth and let it dry. You can repeat this procedure three times to ensure that all the odor is gone.

Urine on clothes

The first reaction is to clean your clothes as usual. However, it is necessary to use the appropriate products that will help remove the bad smell, in addition to disinfecting the clothes. To do this, you will need a spray bottle, a cup of vinegar and a cup of hot water. Mix the liquids in the spray bottle. Then apply the mixture to your clothes until the area affected by the urine is moistened. You can then put your clothes in the washing machine and proceed with your regular cleaning cycle with your laundry soap.

The smell of urine on the sofa

In order to eliminate the odor of urine on the couch, you will need :

  • A spray bottle
  • Two clean rags
  • 250ml of white vinegar
  • One liter of warm water

Then, you have to mix the liquids in the spray bottle and spray a cloth. Wipe your sofa with the cloth moistened with the mixture in a circular motion. Then wipe off the excess liquid with the other cloth and let it dry naturally. This procedure can be repeated up to five times, depending on the intensity of the odor.

Urine on the mattress

If your pet urinates on your mattress, start by soaking up the excess urine with paper towels. Then spread three to four spoonfuls of baking soda over the entire area of the mattress affected by the urine and leave it on for about 1 1/2 hours. After that, remove the baking soda with a vacuum cleaner or dry cloth. Then mix half a cup of white vinegar with one cup of warm water in a spray bottle and spray the mattress. Then let it dry naturally.
