Vacuuming once a week is not enough

Regardless of the fiber of your carpet, regular maintenance is necessary to thoroughly clean the dirt embedded in your carpet. Whether it’s stains, dust or dust mites, vacuuming once a week is not enough. So here are 5 tips for cleaning your carpet.

Tip 1: The Basics of Cleaning

The easiest way to clean your carpet yourself is with soapy water. To do this, vacuum and then mix warm water with dish soap. Use a brush or sponge soaked in your mixture and gently scrub your entire carpet. Be sure to use circular motions and work up a lather. Then rinse with clean water, making sure not to get your carpet too wet. Blot up excess water with a dry towel and let it air dry.

Tip 2: White Vinegar

An environmentally friendly and effective cleaning product, white vinegar can help you clean and stain your carpet. To do this, mix one cup of vinegar with 1L of water and 2 tablespoons of dish soap. Then, soak a sponge and slowly scrub your carpet. Once you’ve covered the entire surface, wipe with a clean cloth.

Tip 3: Soda Water

An often underrated tip, soda water works well, but only on fresh stains. Whether it’s blood, wine or sauce, using soda water is a good solution. Start by absorbing the remaining liquid from the stain with a sponge or paper towel. Be careful not to press too hard on the stain so that it doesn’t become deeply embedded. Then sprinkle the stain with soda water and wipe with a clean cloth. This solution can be applied several times. Also, if you find the stain is stubborn, add baking soda before applying the soda water. Then, leave it on for about 20-30 minutes, scrub gently with a brush and vacuum up the excess baking soda.

Tip 4: Shaving Foam

An amazing tip is definitely the use of shaving cream to stain a carpet. This simple tip involves applying a thick layer of shaving cream to the target stain and leaving it on. All that’s left to do is gently rub in a circular motion to absorb the foam.

Tip 5: Dry cleaning

Indeed, dry cleaning remains THE reference when it comes to cleaning carpets and rugs. Indeed, the low level of humidity used in this process significantly reduces the risk of mildew, warping and discoloration of your carpets. It is possible to rent a machine in a large store to do this cleaning process yourself. However, we strongly recommend that you call in experts to properly dry clean your carpets.
