Also, with the right technique, cleaning stains from a carpet or rug is not that daunting.
Simple ingredients
In order to remove stains from your carpet or rug, you don’t need to make a rigorous effort. The key is the products you use and how quickly you react. Indeed, time is an important factor to consider when removing a stain. Here is also the list of simple ingredients suggested in our recipes:
- Bicarbonate
- White vinegar
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Essential oils
Please note that you must always test your product before using it. To do so, apply a small amount of the product on a corner of your carpet or rug. If there is no discoloration, you can use it.
Also, if you are dealing with animal urine, dilute your white vinegar with cold water so as not to burn the fiber of your carpet or rug.
Recipe #1
For this first recipe, you will need bicarbonate and white vinegar.
We suggest the bicarbonate, since it not only helps cleaning, but also absorbs bad odors. The white vinegar on the other hand, acts as a natural stain remover as well as a disinfectant. Thus, by mixing these ingredients, we obtain a cleaner that absorbs odors and breaks down stains and dirt in depth.
After testing your product, you can apply it. Start by spraying the vinegar on the stain. Then, gently rub the stain with a cloth. Once the vinegar is well applied, moisten with water. Then sprinkle the stain with the baking soda and let it dry overnight. When you get up, all you have to do is vacuum. You should be rid of your stain. If not, repeat as many times as necessary.
Recipe #2
For this second recipe, you will need hydrogen peroxide and essential oils.
Hydrogen peroxide is commonly used in the household, as it is known to be able to break down the most difficult stains. The proposed recipe involves using hydrogen peroxide as a base by combining it with essential oils of your choice. To do this, pour warm water thus hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle. Be sure to use the same amount of warm water as hydrogen peroxide. Then add a few drops of essential oils and shake gently.
After testing your product, you can apply it. Spray your homemade cleaner on your carpet or rug and leave it on for a few minutes. Then rub the product in with an old toothbrush and blot the solution using a clean cloth. And that’s it!
