We all know how useful cornstarch is in the kitchen. However, it is also a great ally when it comes to cleaning. In fact, when combined with the right ingredients, cornstarch can work miracles. Here are a few examples.
Stains on fabric furniture
That’s right! Cornstarch is effective in removing stains from fabric furniture. To do this, you need to mix a quarter cup of milk with 4 spoons of cornstarch. When your paste is well mixed, apply it on the stain and let it rest overnight. When you wake up, remove the paste with a vacuum cleaner and rinse gently with a clean cloth. Your stain will be gone.
Starch and windows
To clean your windows, use the following mixture:
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of vinegar
- juice of half a lemon
- 2 spoons of cornstarch
When your mixture is ready, use a spray bottle and a clean cloth and you’re done.
Cleaning mirrors
Cornstarch is an ally in removing residue build-up from mirrors. To do this, mix a cup of water, a spoonful of rubbing alcohol, a quarter cup of vinegar and a spoonful of cornstarch. Then use a spray bottle and apply the mixture to a mirror. Then use a clean cloth to gently scrub your mirror.
Toilets and cornstarch
To maintain your toilet daily, use the following mixture:
- 2 spoons of cornstarch
- 2 spoons of baking soda
- Half a cup of vinegar
Pour the mixture into the toilet, scrub and flush.
Oil stains on carpets
Here is a simple recipe to remove oil stains from your carpet or rug. Mix one cup of baking soda, half a cup of borax, and 4 spoons of cornstarch. Then put your mixture in a jar with a hole in the lid and pour the mixture over the stain. Leave it on for a few hours and then rinse it off with clean water.
