Before leaving your apartment, it is your responsibility, as a good tenant, to collect your personal belongings and to do some cleaning up. In order to make your life easier, Pro-Sec offers you a list of things to remember so that your move goes smoothly.

Before you start

Obviously, cleaning your apartment from top to bottom is not an easy task. To save time and energy, start by taking out as many of your belongings as possible. This includes boxes, but also furniture you own such as the refrigerator or the sofa.

Have the right equipment

Preparing to cleaning up before your move also means being equipped to do so. So, here is a list of the essentials you’ll need in order to clean your living space.

  • Broom or vacuum cleaner
  • Sponges
  • Bucket and mop
  • Garbage bags
  • Cleaning products (all surfaces, windows, floors, etc.)
  • Rags
  • A toolbox (to remove picture frames, shelves from the wall, etc.)

In addition, if you ask your friends and family for help, bring several copies of the items on the above list to be as efficient as possible in your cleaning.

Our advice

The cleaning of your apartment before your move requires a minimum of organization in order to be efficient. Therefore, we advise you to start with the rooms that you will not go back to after you have finished. For example, the office or the bathroom. We also recommend that you start your cleaning in the upper parts of each room and work your way down to get the dust down. Finally, finish with the floors and close the door behind you. This way, you’ll keep track of the areas you’ve already done.

The to-do list:

Here is the list put together by Pro-Sec to help you with your organization.

  • Wash windows and mirrors
  • Dust doors, shelves and baseboards
  • Scrub and clean shower, sinks and toilets
  • Clean the air vents
  • Take down the decorations you have put up on the wall
  • Clean the oven, stovetop and countertops
  • Dust and clean curtains and blinds
  • Clean the floors
  • Wash lamps and change worn out bulbs
